ABOUT us
Bitsy hallBitsy Hall is a third year Peace and Conflict Studies and major at the University of California, Berkeley. Outside of class, she works as a French tutor and volunteers at an immigration law firm. At her volunteer position, she facilitates asylum communication by providing emotional support to refugees. With this help, they are able to give a detailed account of the harm they are escaping. She is taking this course to explore the process of othering and its contribution to conflict and violence.

Khalida Jamilah
Khalida Jamilah is a third year Peace and Conflict Studies
major at the University of California, Berkeley. Outside of class, she is the
Vice President and the Outreach Director of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Student
Association at UC Berkeley, and a contributor of the College Corner section at In the Know, a monthly online
newsletter distributed across the states. She chose to take Islamophobia,
because she wanted to understand why Islamophobia occurs.

Sofia DhananiSofia Dhanani is a second year Cognitive Science major at the University of California, Berkeley. Outside of class, she does research at the D'Esposito Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, is the historian for the Cognitive Science Student Association, and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Morning Sign Out. She chose to take Islamophobia, because the topics of prejudice against Muslims, and discrimination against minority ethnic and cultural groups are ones that resonate deeply with her.

Wilhelmina K. Liang-Nazarxon MakdessianWilhelmina K. Liang-Nazarxon Makdessian is a third year Peace and Conflict Studies & Ethnic Studies major at the University of California, Berkeley. Outside of class, she is involved in solidarity activism for minorities and people of color in the Bay Area and tutors Math to high school and community college students. She chose to take this course to further her understanding of her family and friends' experiences in the United States.
